AMDE, a leading IT data solutions company based in Adelaide, partnered with Elevance (formerly Qualiart) to design a professional logo that aligns with their innovative brand identity. Specialising in enterprise software, internet applications, and automation systems, AMDE sought a visual representation that encapsulates their mission, values, and cutting-edge services.
AMDE develops custom enterprise software, internet applications and automation software systems. They also provide fully managed hosting services for client systems. Clients use ADME software and solutions for process management, industrial control, enterprise administration and custom applications from entrepreneurial start-ups to mission-critical data systems. They knew that logo design represents their company image, it defines the company’s identity and its purpose and is an integral part of the company’s brand strategy. As a professional logo design firm in Australia, we understood that was necessary an approach behind designing a memorable logo involving a process which progresses through systematic stages of interviewing, research, development, feedback and fine tuning.
We started with the design brief that was basically a question and answer session with the client regarding their company, its mission, values and beliefs. Along with a company profile, we discussed the logo objectives, the target market, and the visual perception and primary message the logo is intended to convey.
In the step 2, we researched the target audience, competitive market, colour and typeface usage and industry trends. What works and what does not work? What are some memorable marks in the competitive market?
The next step involved informal sketching, mind mapping and word association to explore as many ideas as possible.
In the step 4, we selected the best creative directions and begin prototyping the logo as computer generated art. Particular attention is paid to logo recognition in a small size. A well designed logo should be readable in black and white at one inch size or less. At this stage we also begin to explore preliminary typeface and colour options.
The client was presented with the three best logo directions for review. We discuss the thought and meaning that is conveyed by each logo and client feedback is elicited. In this step the client selected the primary logo or direction that they felt was most appropriate for the brand image that they wish to convey. With the client feedback, we continued to refine the logo design which included further design, typeface and colour explorations. We continued to present logo variations and design refinements until the client was satisfied with the final logo treatment. The client was presented with any final refinement of the selected logo. The final logo was selected and the client approved and signs off on the selected logo design. Based on the final identity design, mechanical artwork was generated and a basic style and colour guide was produced. Final vector artwork in electronic format was provided in black and white and colour. The files could be scaled to any size without loss of quality. The style guide provided specifications for colour print matching and online use (Pantone, CMYK and RGB format).
